MY LIFE BEFORE PILATES
1992 was a year of adventure and growth when I left Poland to come to the UK. My path led me to Notting Hill where I worked in a partnership running restaurants which contributed greatly to development in both my professional and personal life.
However, it was when I was seeking a solution to my spinal injuries that I happened upon Pilates. It made me regain most of my mobility and strength and gave me tools to help daily pain management. I was excited and enthusiastic for the first time in many years and realised it was time for change! If Pilates helped me then I could help others regain what they had lost and find their centre again.

I was excited and enthusiastic for the first time in many years and realised it was time for change! Then and NOW..
The amazing journey of becoming a Pilates teacher began and despite being a mum of two lively boys I found the time to train. I was lucky to come across a great teacher trainer Anoushka Boone and with her guidance and mentorship I qualified as a Matwork and Studio Equipment Pilates Teacher. A whole new world opened up to me as I realised that Pilates education is not just about new skills and knowledge, it develops this relationship between your body and your mind, your weaknesses and strengths. It was both revealing and challenging as I began to change old patterns and habits that no longer served me. It became my passion and focus as I realised it was impossible to stop myself from wanting to learn more.
Jospeh Pilates used to say “ In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see the difference and in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.”
Me?... I didn't just have a new, stronger body, I had a whole new outlook and perspective and a vocational career that I know is going to last me well past retirement age!! Not only that but the Pilates world has led me to some inspiring teachers including Allison Swan and Rachel Rafiefar who have supported me on every level. Part of my vision is to pay it forward and grow the community even stronger.
In late 2013 I found my new 'baby', Kentish Town Studio. Despite having support from “my tribe”, arranging the legal matters, building it up and starting to trade with zero clients was the hardest but most rewarding experience to date. Unexpectedly , we were forced to shut down for three months in early 2016 due to a fire but it made me more determined to achieve my dream of engaging more with the local community, developing new projects and being home to thought provoking teacher training and workshops.
In 2019 I have added another amazing skill that complements my work as a Pilates Teacher, Soft Tissue Therapy. This is a hands on body work that is one of the most effective ways to deal with soft tissue injuries, imbalances and alike complaints. Combined together they create irresistible and super effective cocktail for rehabilitation and postural improvements.
Then came 2020.. should I even bother.. 😷, it was for sure a year of learning, soul searching and not giving up!
One unexpected benefit of that year was going ‘on-line’ (Zoom classes and private sessions), personally it is not my favourite way of teaching but adding Zoom classes to our schedule opened doors to a new stream of clients. It dded benefits to existing classes like the option to access class recordings and availability of free, prerecorded classes (great for homework practice), generally, very handy for clients with busy working schedules.
Pilates didn’t just touch my life it changed my life.
I hope, one day, even if we never meet, you may find it touches yours too.

WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS
Honestly, who knows 🤷🏼♀️…, if nothing else in 2020 I’ve learned how unpredictable life is and how business can crumble in matter of days but as the song goes....The future is so bright I’ve got to wear shades... My mind just never stops thinking about all of the possibilities and opportunities that open up to me every day.
